About The Bail Project
The Bail Project combats mass incarceration at the front end by paying bail for tens of thousands of low-income Americans at risk of pretrial detention.
About the Job
Bail Disruptors are community members across the country committed to racial and economic justice. They are the core of The Bail Project, securing people’s release, disrupting the criminal legal system, and fighting mass incarceration. Since August of 2018, we have posted bail for over 800 people in federal court in San Diego.
Partnering with the Federal Defenders of San Diego and the CJA Panel Attorneys to combat the criminalization of immigration at the southern border of the United States, we disrupted Operation Streamline, an initiative that established an altogether separate court system designed to facilitate mass prosecutions of immigrants. In addition to the fight against Operation Streamline our site in San Diego has begun posting for any person with bail set in federal court in San Diego.
We are looking for a new Bail Disruptor to support our growing team on the ground!
